The Best of Weird Tales, 1923

  1. THE BEST OF WEIRD TALES, 1923 - A black ink and black color pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size coquille board. It appears on the cover of a booklet, "The Best of Weird Tales, 1923".

This drawing, which includes the Logo design at the top and all the lettering, was made for Bleak House (Wildside Press) in 1997. The intent of the editors was to publish a series of booklets reprinting stories from the famous pulp magazine, "Weird Tales," beginning with WT's first year, 1923. Then following up with the next volume; The Best of Weird Tales 1924, and so on. Each issue would have the same cover drawing with only the year updated for that issue. But only the first issue saw publication, and that was many years ago, so I assume the sales of the first volume was not high enough to go on with the series.
